Cyriel Dessers celebrated his return to the senior national team of Nigeria with a goal and and assist as Rangers stun Fenerbahçe 3-1 in the Europa League round of 16 first leg, OwnGoalNigeria.com reports.

Back in the Super Eagles provisional squad for the world cup qualifiers games against Rwanda and Zimbabwe, Dessers gave coach of the Nigerian team some food for thought with another impressive performance.

The 30 year old took his goal tally for the season to 19 in all competitions from a total of 41 games, putting himself in pole position to be named in the final 23 man list.

Dessers opened scoring in the 6th minute stunning the home crowd at the Şükrü Saracoğlu stadium.

With scores tied at 1-1 he scored twice but was denied on both occasions by the Video Assistant Referee (VAR).

His team were however not in the mood of taking their foot of the gas with Václav Černý scoring a brace to pipe more misery on the Jose Mourinho led team right in front of their fans.

Both teams will meet in the second leg of the game in Scotland next week.
