Emmanuel Okolo of Ronik Comprehensive College Shines at MTN Champs Competition

Emmanuel Okolo, a 15 year old SS 1 student of of Ronik Comprehensive College has established himself as a future Olympian as he won Silver and Bronze Medals in 100 and 200 meters at the just concluded MTN CHAMPS Session 3 International Relays.

Over 3000 athletes from over 455 schools competed across different categories. Team Ronik participated in 5 events across 2 categories.

Other students who represented the School at the event held at Unilag Sports Complex and Yabatech College of Technology are Jonathan Abel who came 4th in both 100m and 200m and Chinonso Mbadugha who came 5th in 100m.

Other representatives of the School include Brian Anyanralu 100m, 200m, and long jump (U-17) boys; Elliot Obi 100m and 200m (U-17) boys; Ronald Onyeka 100m, 200m, and long jump (U-17) boys; Faeq Oluokun 100m, 200m, and long jump (U-17) boys; Emmanuel Akolo 100m and 200m (U-17) boys; Ifunanya Adigwe 100m, 200m, and long jump (U-17) girls; Sarah Opara 100m and 200m (U-17) girls and Chizzy Ukachukwu 200m and 400m (U-17

Speaking with newsmen in Lagos, Dr. Adebola Olubanjo, Vice Chairman of the Board of Ronik Group of Schools, Ejigbo in Lagos said the school has established itself as a top educational institution known for excellence in academic performance and also in the area of sports development where it has continued to showcase the talents of its students and support them as they are set to conquer the World.

His words : “We introduced sports faculty to catch talented youngsters early and nurture them to stardom.”

“The sports faculty is already yielding progressive dividends with the discovery of Emmanuel Akolo, who excelled in the recently concluded MTN Champs Lagos, held at the Yaba College of Technology (Yabatech).

“He (Emmanuel Akolo) came second at the 100 metres race returning at a time of 11.31s, behind Ebimetan Tunmise, who emerged winner at a time of 11.24s.

With a vision to nurture young minds to become future leaders in all areas of human endeavors, Dr. Adebola Onabanjo assured that “Ronik Group of Schools will remain innovators and change-makers, equipped with academic and sports excellence to provide superior values to all our students”
