Nigeria’s daily average oil production rose by 152, 000 barrels per day last November, according to data sourced from the newly released monthly oil market report by the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries.
According to the OPEC MOMR for December 2024, the country’s production including condensates rose by 11 per cent, from 1.333 million barrels in October to 1.486 million in November 2024.
The analysis puts the daily increase to 152, 000b/d and about one million barrels increase between October and November last year.
This is as the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC) in its latest oil production data, indicated that on a month-on-month basis, daily average oil output in December 2024, declined by 1.35 per cent from 1.690 million barrels per day recorded in November 2024, to 1.667mbpd.
Data from the Commission also indicated that daily peak oil production in December 2024 was 1.79mbpd while the lowest daily production was 1.57mbpd.
Cumulatively, oil output in December 2024, was 51.69 million barrels, a marginal increase of 1.9 per cent when compared to 50.71 million barrels produced in November 2024.
Further analysis of the data showed that the highest oil output in December 2024 was recorded at Forcados Terminal at 8.49 million barrels followed by Bonny Terminal, 7.78 million barrels and Qua Iboe, 4.15 million barrels.
The data showed without condensate, daily oil production was 1.484 million, indicating that Nigeria, again, failed to meet its oil production quota of 1.5mbpd allotted to it by OPEC.
The December 2024 average daily oil output also means that Nigeria failed to meet the 1.7mbpd benchmark set for the 2024 budget all through the year.
NUPRC data on daily average production showed that oil production including condensate in January 2024 was 1.64mbpd; February, 1.53mbpd; March, 1.44mbpd; April, 1.45mbpd; May, 1.47mbpd; June, 1.50mbpd; July, 1.53mbpd; August, 1.57mbpd; September, 1.54mbpd, October, 1.54mbpd; November, 1.69mbpd; and December, 1.67mbpd.

Nigeria Lost Over ₦67bn Property, 100 Lives To Fire In 2024 — FFS
The Federal Fire Service (FFS) has disclosed that an estimated property loss of N67.1 billion, and was recorded in 2024 as a result of fire outbreaks.
A statement by the FFS quoting the Service’s Controller General, Abdulganiyu Jaji while addressing a press conference at the FFS headquarters in Abuja, added that no fewer than 100 deaths as a result of fire outbreaks were also recorded within the same period.
Jaji, however, said that the Service saved property worth N1.94 trillion last year.
“In the year 2024, the Federal Fire Service effectively saved property worth N1.94 trillion and recorded an estimated property loss of N67.1 billion.
“In the same year, Federal Fire Service responded to fire and other emergencies during which 30,890 lives were saved while over 100 lives were lost,” he said.
Jaji, who said cases of fire outbreaks could rise during the harmattan season when humidity is low, implored all operators of fuel stations, petrol tankers, gas refilling stations, gas cylinders consumers and the general public to follow safety protocols and regulations.
“We will also focus on raising awareness, and improving response time using cutting-edge technologies such as the National Fire Detection and Alarm System (NAFDAS), Fire Alarm App known as N-Alert,” he added.
While commending President Bola Tinubu for approving the procurement of state-of-the-art firefighting appliances and remodelling of the National Fire Academy, he called Nigerians to support the repeal and re-enactment of the Fire Service Act of 1963, saying: “If this is achieved, it will reposition the Service to enhance effective service delivery.”
